Origins
Creature Cycles started in James’ living room in Bristol in 2019.
A mechanical engineer by profession and a graphic designer, amateur bike mechanic and artist by inclination, James set out to design and make bicycles that were aesthetically striking, highly functional and a pleasure to own and ride.
Along the way, James met his fellow conspirators in the Creature Cycles project. Callum; a triathlete and skilled engineer with a taste for competition, and Oscar; a craftsman with over 200 frames under his belt.
In February 2023, Creature moved into its new premises in Corris, Mid wales.
Nestled in the heart of the Dyfi Forest and surrounded by some of the best mountain bike trails in the UK we feel well placed to provide cyclists of all levels and disciplines with top-notch equipment, exceptional service, and a true sense of community.
Upstairs in Idris Stores in addition to a warm fire and a tasty brew you’ll find essential components like chains, inner tubes, tyres, merch and cycling apparel.
Company aims
- Design and make bikes that last, can be repaired and aren’t difficult to repurpose or recycle
- Produce bikes that are loved by those that ride them
- Produce bikes that are easy to service and maintain
- Produce bikes that don’t break*
- Continuously improve the product and process
*Under “expected riding conditions”, your bike doesn’t need to survive falling off a cliff, or being crushed by a steamroller- if it does, its either over-engineered, or magic.
